Nad terenom sem zelo razočaran, podobnega mnenja je večina tistih, s katerimi sem se pogovarjal. Koruza, sončnice, drevje, kanal okoli 3/4 terena... Glede na vremensko prognozo, ki predvideva močnejši veter, bi organizator moral narediti vsaj tri dodatne in z zastavo označene mostove čez kanal (globina umazane vode cca 1.5 m).

Due to weather forecast the organizer must provide some extra bridges, signed with flags across the canal. At least three.....

Danes poteka v Szentesu še tekmovanje v F1H Szentes Cup ah Eurochallenge. Rezultate lahko spremljate v živo na.... aja, to je na Madžarskem, ni v živo rezultatov.

Sicer pa bo danes zvečer ob 18.00 potekal prvi del Svetovnega prvenstva, uradna otvoritev, pred katero bodo podelili tudi priznanja najboljšim na Budapest Cupu.

Pred otvoritvijo SP je potekala podelitev priznanj najboljšim na Budapest Cup-u.
Before WCh opening ceremony there was a prize giving part of Budapest Cup.

Mogoče se motim, a sodeč po slikah, ki so jih objavili na FB udeleženci, je otvoritvena slovesnost potekala zelo skromno, brez hostes, glasbenega dela programa, na zelo malem odru, na travi... Vse skupaj zgleda, kot neke vrste družinska prireditev (in organizacija). Zelo minimalistično.
According to photos posted by participants on FB, the opening ceremony was very simple, no hostesses, musical part of the program, small stage, on the grass... Everything seems like a family event (and organisation). Very minimalistic.

Me prav zanima, kako bo v tekmovalnem delu.

Po dolgih letih je na tekmovanju prve kategorije spet Makedonija. / After many years back on the 1st cat. competition - Macedonia

Med otvoritvijo je v bližini besnelo neurje, ki je lomilo veje, podiralo drevesa...

Ponedeljek in torek sta namenjena registraciji in tehničnemu pregledu modelov. Običajno organizatorji za to porabijo en dan, združujejo male ekipe na isti termin... Letos so si za to vzeli dva dneva, rezervni dan pa stlačili na dan zaključka, tako da je teoretično možno, da bi se zakluček lahko začel pred koncem tekmovanja.

Anita Göröcs, administratorka SP je na Facebooku na vprašanje enega od romunskih tekmovalcev, kako je z vremenom, odgovorila, da je tam veliko blata in da teren danes ni dostopen, ker bi vozila lahko nasedla v razmočeni zemlji na kolovozih...

Heavy overnight rain has made the entrance to the field un passable this morning, several cars getting stuck and many tractor related stories being told. Processing has started this morning so there will be a steady flow of teams attending the hotel today.

UK team car getting unstuck at field entrance. Heavy overnight rain created quagmire. John Carter waved down a local tractor driver who pulled them out. How he compensated him with and adult beverage. Day is cool but should dry out soon

Last evening was the opening ceremony that went off very smoothly. Good see led friends.

Na terenu nam prodajajo plastenke vode 1,5 l po 5 €. Cena take vode v trgovinah je 0,3-06 € za 1,5 l plastenko.
Bencin pa je okoli 1,73 € za 1,5 l. Pomeni, da je bencin dvakrat cenejši od navadne vode.... Zanimivo...

The price for a bottle of 1.5 l of water in the field is 5 €. The price in the store is 0,3-06 € for 1,5 l. Interesting.....

Budapest Cup

Probably the toughest World Cup contest in a long time. If not the toughest ever.

The event preceded the 2017 World Champs in Szentes, Hungary and was held on the Champs site. All 3 classes F1AB and C were flown together on the World Champs flight line with 6 people to a pole 90 minutes rounds (no F1Q). The first round max was 5 minutes. In the days before the event the wind was in what we understand to be the prevailing direction and most mornings was fairly gentle. The high temperature was up to 40 C. On the day of the event the wind was in the opposite direction, from the North, turbulent and much stronger, about 5-6 m/s. In this direction the highway was approximately 2 KM and between the highway and the flight line there were tall partially harvested crops. So the retrieval is much more difficult than in the ‘normal’ direction. In spite of the difficulties a good number of people made the 5 minutes max. A number of models crossed the high way and railway line . One well known F1B flyer D/T’d on top of a glass green house and well known F1A flyer went through the glass on another. On the pole I was on no flyer who has maxed made in back by the beginning of the second round and they all got off quite quickly. During the next two rounds the wind lessened slightly and swung to the North East. This put models in the most difficult retrieval zone. There is row of high trees parallel with the entrance road on the other side of the trees is a canal and a swamp. It had appeared that the might be a bridge to cross the canal close to the trees but it did not exist and it was in fact it is about 500 m up wind. In my case I D/T’d just over the trees and landed on the flight line side of the swamp. But the retrieval crew could not see it until they had crossed the canal and see it from the other side. One wing tip was in the water. My crew got dehydrated as they did not take sufficient water with them and by the time they got back we missed the fourth round so I stopped flying I was reluctant to use another model in these conditions with the Champs only a few days way. A number of people stripped down to their underwear and went into the canal. While the idea of cooling off in the water had some appeal, the water itself was a bit off putting and probably not all that safe. About this time the wind dropped and the temperature rose to over 40 C. The flyoff was held later in the day with a slight cooling but some confusion on pole assignments. I spoke to two of the 3 podium getters in F1B and the both had 2 tree landings (probably better than swamp !) and one also had a canal excursion (this third of the week).

For some reason the F1A flyers seemed to have more difficulty with the conditions compared with F1B. Not sure if it was the turbulence or not. In theory a windy day should have helped the LDA models.

Well deserved victories for the winners but very challenging day for people planning on taking part in the Champs.
