Champs Results

We have received a number of questions about the results for the World Champs, an event that has not even been run yet!

As at other recent World Champs electronic score boards are planned. One set will be near the flight line and the other near the on field HQ. The results will also be online so will accessible from most places, on the field and around the world. Further information and links will be published closer to the date of the Champs.

Tako, zdaj bo pa počasi že šlo zares...

SLOvenska ekipa odhaja na pot proti Kalifornijskim Izgubljenim gričem v treh delih v sredo in četrtek. Poleg nastopa na svetovnem prvenstvu 18. in 19. se bo 5 tekmovalcev udeležilo še dveh tekmovanj za svetovni pokal, Sierra Cupa 12. in 13. ter Kotuku Cupa 23. in 24. oktobra.

Sestava ekipe se je od prve, na podkomisiji potrjene inačice, nekoliko spremenila in zmanjšala, predvsem zaradi drugih obveznosti kandidatov, svoje pa je naredilo tudi pomanjkanje finančnih sredstev, še posebej takih, kot so jih v minulih letih lahko bili deležni člani reprezentance preko LZS, od sprememb dokumentov OKS-ZŠZ pred tremi leti pa ne več.

V tej temi bomo poskusili sproti obveščati o dogajanju v pripravah in na vseh treh tekmovanjih, kolikor bodo to omogočale tehnične razmere.

Slovenska ekipa je v treh delih uspešno prispela. Prvi treningi so potekali v četrtek in petek. Petej je bil glede vetra bolj miren, temperature zjutraj okrog 7-8 stopinj, popoldan okrog 30, sončno ves čas.

Vse ekipe se niso tu, nekatere pridejo tik pred prvenstvom, Hrvati in Srbi naj bi prispeli v petek popoldne, zvećer.

Sobota in nedelja, 12. in 13. sta dneva za Sierra Cup, sobota F1AQ, nedelja F1BC. Prvi turnus se zaćne ob 8. (17. CET) s 4 minutnima maxoma v prvih dveh turnusih.

Vsi časi v urnikih so v lokalnem, pacifiškem časovnem pasu, ki je 9 ur za srednjeevropskim.

Sierra Cup Flyoff Notice

For the 2 F1B and 2 F1C sportsmen in the 10 minute early AM flyoff, you should be at the CD’s trailer on the field at 6:45 AM and the CD will direct you to the flight line

Sierra Cup Results F1BCP

The Sierra Cup F1B, F1C and F1P started on the Western Flight line. This was used for the first round as the westerly morning wind would have put people flying from the Northern flight line on Hollway Rd, into the pits or oil field. At 9 am the wind started switching to the North so competition was moved to the Northern flight line. The caused a delay of about one hour and the contest was reduced from 7 rounds to 6. After the regular rounds the flyoffs started with 43 out of 78 in B and 19 out of 32 in C.

Weather, very light with an after noon high of about 88F or 31C

Summary after two flyoffs in in F1B and F1C 2 sportsmen remain in each class. There was virtually no wind for most of the flyoff and challenging thermal conditions with spectacular climbs and drops.

During the last F1C flyoff the wind rose abruptly switching to a ‘difficult’ direction making a further evening flyoff not practical in the daylight remaining.

All of the preliminaries are over.

Processing and Registration have been completed. People are meeting and catching up with old friends. The Ladies Tea Party was successful and resulted in renewing old friendships and making new ones.
The opening ceremony was done in the Wonderful Park in Lost Hills and conducted by CD, Charlie Jones. Music from the Wasco High School Band and country sign/ flagbearers for each national team came from Lost Hills School. The jury of Ian Kaynes, Chuck Etherington and Cenny Breeman were introduced. Cenny standing in at the last moment as Shigeru Kanegawa’s travel plans were interrupted by the typhoon. All current World Champions were present and introduced. The Sportsman’s oath was sworn by Phil Mitchell of Australia and time keeper’s by Kyle Jones of the USA. John Lorbiecki, for both the AMA and NFFS thanked all the people that made the event happen and reminded the contestants that this is the World Champs so "Go for it! all out" The contest was declared open for the FAI by Ian Kaynes and during his brief speech mentioned that this is the largest World Free Flight Championship ever held in the Western Hemi-sphere. The opening ceremony was concluded with a blessing by the Rev. Derek McGuckin, we include his words here:

Almighty God,
We have gathered here from all over the world. We are of many faiths and no faith. Our passion for Free Flight Competition draws us together.
May the Friendships we make be a blessing to us all, our countries and the World.
May you fly hard
Fly safe
Fly high
Fly well
And Fly Free

Amen.

This was followed by a reception at the Lost Hills Community Center.
